There is something seriously wrong with your language when the TEACHER doesn't know how to say "four lizards" because she doesn't know the counter.

(actually, the language is pretty cool, fine, but you guys could have thought this one out better)

You need the right counter word; yon can't modify tokage by itself. The Japanese themselves frequently forget the right counter word to go with each noun.

disclaimer: I am by no means an expert here. Anything I say about Japanese could well be wrong.
